The Vault — Jim Hall’s Jazz Guitar
Here are all the transcriptions we’ll be working on. Full disclosure, I did transcribe these myself and I’m pretty confident they’re accurate, but there will absolutely be errors. I’ll update them and list the date each time I do.
I’ve also transcribe the solos here –– not the melodies or the chords. The melodies, I’d like to get to at some point, but likely it won’t be all of them. I’d definitely like to do Stella, Tangerine, and Silver Lining for my own reasons, but we’ll see if I get any further.
The chord changes are just the basic lead sheet changes. I didn’t transcribe the changes that they’re using on the tunes. That’s because I’m primarily interested in the melodic ideas for our purposes here. And for the most part, Jim’s harmonic ideas are pretty straightforward here. His melodic ideas are inventive as all heck, though. Anyway … here we go:
Stompin’ at the Savoy (9/14/24)
Things Ain’t What They Used to Be (9/14/24)
