2. The Teachers of Citizens

Three educators were extremely generous with their time and insight and contributed mightily to what turned out to be another half-dozen columns on education and citizenship.

Paul Erb teaches English at an all-boys private school in Virginia and has served as a teacher, business manager, and administrator at several other schools.

Kevin Levin is a historian and author who writes frequently on historical topics (particularly the Civil War) both for major publications and his own blog, Civil War Memory.  He is a former high school and college level History and Philosophy teacher though he still works in, travels to, and lectures for schools in order to help history teachers in develop their classroom practices.

Linda Carlton recently retired after serving as the Director of Secondary Instruction for Virginia public school system.  Prior to entering administration, she worked as both a History and English teacher in Virginia and Massachusetts.
