Growing a Garden
Growing a garden from scratch in jail sometimes means it takes a year and a half to navigate all the obstacles that keep your raised beds from being filled. A year and a half later, with a team of wild wonder people, I️ emptied the last bag of compost into the last empty raised bed today and almost cried. Through this work I’ve learned the importance of standing back and soaking in the little things- doing it so often that gathering all the things naturally begins to feel like abundance. I️ try to do this with students. To create fullness where there seemingly is none. Sometimes it works and sometimes it really doesn’t but it gets easier the longer we’re in the garden together.
